The SB Bio can be monitored based on the desired water parameters important to each research initiative, including chemical, physical, and biological properties.
Parameters frequently sampled or monitored for water quality include dissolved oxygen (DO), temperature, turbidity, photosynthetically active radiation (PAR), chlorophyll, blue-green algae, rhodamine dye, fluorescein dye, CDOM/FDOM, refined fuels/crude oil, tryptophan, pressure, optical brighteners, and phycoerythrin.

Optical sensors range from deep ultraviolet to the infrared spectrum. They assess in-water properties, such as suspended matter or phytoplankton concentration, benthic substrate type, and vegetation composition.
Together with temperature and depth information, a good estimate of the water conductivity or salinity may be determined by measuring the conductivity of water
For measuring biological and chemical processes in aquatic environments and oceanographic studies.
SB Bio is one of Offshore Sensing’s several Sailbuoy (SB) models. The Sailbuoy has been field-tested and developed in challenging environments such as the Arctic and North Sea.
