SB Met Unmanned Surface Vessel

The SB Met unmanned surface vessel measures meteorological parameters such as air temperature above the ocean surface, wind speed (steady and gusting), barometric pressure, and wind direction. It will also measure water temperature, wave height, and dominant wave period.

The SB Met is equipped with advanced ADCP multidisciplinary oceanographic sensors, allowing you to take concurrent currents, waves, turbulence, ice drift, acoustic backscatter measurements, and more.

The SB Met was the first Atlantic crossing by an unmanned surface vehicle.

SB Met Unmanned Surface Vessel

The SB Met is equipped with the following communication and data collectors:

Current measurement:

Doppler Current Profiler Sensor (DCPS). enables acoustic wave measurements in addition to profiling currents.

Wave Measurement Sensors

Wave conditions. Cover the oceans for weather forecasting and climate change studies.

Meteorological Sensors

Measuring temperature wind speed & direction temperature, heating,  humidity & pressure

Key features of all our unmanned surface vessels

SB Met is one of Offshore Sensing’s several Sailbuoy (SB) models. The Sailbuoy has been field-tested and developed in challenging environments such as the Arctic and North Sea. See our missions here

Key features of all the Sailbuoy models include:

  • Autonomy
  • Data collection
  • Monitoring and Data link
  • Design and Implementation
  • Navigation and Control
